3 Easy Ways to Show Gratitude Every Single Day
In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Are you thankful for what you have in your life each day? Even when things are going wrong, it is important to take a step back and be present. Recognize you still have so much to be grateful for!
Write Daily in a Gratitude Journal
One simple way to show gratitude is to write down 3-5 things you are grateful for. Try to change it up everyday. This encourages you to be more present in your life. Being grateful for all the things in our lives can make a big difference in how we feel each day. It not only helps to develop a growth mindset, but also helps improve your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness growth.
Staying in Touch with Loved Ones
Showing that you care for the others in your life and all that they do for you can really help you to be grateful. Afterall, gratitude is a social emotion. With a chronic illness, it can be easy for our minds to become a battlefield of good and bad. There were times that I was bedridden for weeks and would isolate myself. I was fortunate to have a friend who didn’t give up on me, and now we talk on the phone weekly. It can be easy in our busy worlds to forget to even say a simple thank you when someone does something for us, but it is so important to focus on those little things in life!
Show Your Appreciation
The great secret to a good life is to cultivate the ability to appreciate the things you already have. Never take for granted all the good things that you already have in your life. One of the easiest and best things you can do to make a difference in your life is to begin and end each day with an affirmation of gratitude. You’ll be amazed at how much this can change your mood and how much motivation it can bring to your life. Even five minutes a day thinking about a few things you are thankful for or happy to have in your life will make a difference.
